RAW BRISBANE: ENCOMPASS

Lets Buy Mayfair - Scott Hynd
November 22nd 2013 marked the date of my very first exhibition, Encompass, hosted by RAW: Natural Born Artists. As this was the first time I had ever participated in anything of the sort I didn't know what to expect and only a little of how to prepare. Simply said, Encompass was a good night had by all and I was over the moon with how my display turned out! The night was a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, network with other creatives and have a drink and a dance.

Encompass saw The Arena, a local venue in fortitude valley, buzzing with creativity, drinks flowing and music pumping! I was seriously inspired by so many artists but two of the standouts for me were Scott Hynd Art and Wedding Flowers by Julia Rose.

Scott's work is heavily influenced by pop art and is full of so much life and colour! Each piece uses mixed mediums of spray paint and enamel on canvas. If I wasn't a student I would love a piece in my home! For those of you strapped for cash a print or phone cover is the easiest way to compliment an artist without breaking the bank. It's Over Mario - Scott Hynd
Flowers by Julia Rose captured by BNE style
Wedding Flowers by Julia Rose is a Gold Coast based florist that specialises in making your moments momentous! The creation that she had on display at Encompass was simply breathtaking! Check out a sweet snap here by Yolanda from BNE style.

Yolanda also managed to introduce herself to me on the night and grabbed a few quick snaps of my display! Love her work! BNE Style captures Brisbane's stylish inhabitants and profiles local designers. I felt so special to be featured on her blog as an emerging artist! Check out her review of RAW: Encompass here.

RAW: Encompass was a great opportunity and it allowed me to experience my first taste of the Brisbane art scene. I'm looking forward to being a part of more events like this in the future!

LUNACANDY X EMILY SANDERS

November 11, 2013 | Written by Katie | Photos by Emily Sanders

Recently I was fortunate enough to work friends of mine, whom happen to be creative and conveniently attractive, on the first Lunacandy shoot. Emily, of Emily Sanders Photography, and Mackenzie, the star of this shoot, were lovely enough to help me get some product shots together.
Naturally whilst working friends it's easy to agree with Confucius in the sense it did not feel like working at all and as a result the photos are fantastic.

On the day we were blessed with blue skies and forgiving winds. We set out with every intention of an early start but first it was breakfast. We enjoyed an easy meal at the local favourite spot Sourced Grocer on Commercial Road. Each of us enjoyed tasty treats washed down with some excellent coffee. It was then we decided to get down to business...

We found the perfect spot and so the photos started to flow. I am lucky enough to work with such a naturally talented photographer who captured Mackenzie's features perfectly. This was Mackenzie's first time behind the camera and doesn't she look stunning!

This is simply but a taste of this shoot but I am super impressed with how these photos alone turned out. I cannot wait to try something more creative in the future!
